Charlene met her sweetheart, Kenneth Porter Knapp while visiting her sister Gloria, in Michigan where Kenneth was serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She and Dad were married Feb. 12, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. She grew up in Franklin, Idaho and loved growing up in a small community.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Gay Sanderson Thomson and by his sister, Susan Thomson. Much of his childhood was spent in the backcountry, hunting or fishing with his father and brother. Darin served a full-time mission in Ecuador for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married his wife, Myra, and adopted Myra’s then-4-year-old daughter, Lindsey.
Past Services
Each grandchild has expressed Grandma Knapp made them feel as if they were her most special! She could put the tastiest food on the table with seemingly few ingredients as the budget was tight at times. We remember her delicious homemade bread that we always had on the table.
Dennis married Theda Gene Anderson on August 2, 1960, in Franklin, Idaho. Melvin S. Thomson, 68, returned to his heavenly home on Sept. 2, 2022, at his home in Preston surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 4, 1954, in Afton, Wyoming to Gary and Gay Thomson. He graduated from American Falls High School in 1972 and continued his college education at BYU-Idaho.

She had a strong testimony of our Savior and wasn’t afraid to share her beliefs with others. She was born May 23, 1943 in Lewiston, Utah, the third of three daughters to Leone Hendricks and Keith Hobbs Hawkes. Her father, Keith, died after an extended illness when she was 2 ½ years old. Her mother then married Verdell Smith when she was five. "We believe this facility will be a great asset to our community" says Funeral Director, Ron Smellie.
You could always count on Mel to perfect and finish a project! Patricia grew up in Thatcher, ID, graduating from Grace High School. She then attended Utah State University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Norman and Pat raised their family on a small farm in Mound Valley, Idaho prior relocating to American Falls, Idaho. She was a Medicare Clerk and Personnel Director of Harms Memorial Hospital, American Falls, Idaho.
Madelyn Meeks
Madelyn Meeks, 83, four weeks after moving from Evanston, Wyoming to Preston, Idaho, passed away on June 29, 2022, in Preston, Idaho. She had recently moved into the Franklin County Transitional Care Center, where she was treated with great care and love. She was a talented cook and enjoyed music, playing both the piano and organ. At one time she was a member of the AF Sharps singing ensemble. She gave her life to the Lord in serving and teaching in many church callings and especially to her family.
Through many years of service and dedication to the communities of Northern Cache Valley, Webb Funeral Home has established itself as the leading provider of funeral services in the area. Patricia Mendenhall Smith Andreasen, 93, passed away Saturday morning, December 10, 2022 at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah from effects of heart failure. She was born on November 18, 1929 in Thatcher, Idaho to Millen Herd and Della Thatcher Mendenhall. She married Norman Busby Smith on June 30, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a dedicated, loving and creative wife, mother and grandmother.
Charlene Groneman Knapp, age 94, passed away December 7, 2022 in Preston Idaho in the Franklin County Transitional Care Center. She was born March 24, 1928 in Provo, Utah the daughter of LaVar Peter Groneman and Orilla Buys Strong Groneman. Her Parents divorced and her mother remarried Alton Frank Groneman to whom she was later sealed. Julie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In 1999, she was called to serve a mission in the Beehive Clothing Center in Preston, Idaho. She loved the Church and served faithfully in many callings.
They also quickly responded to changes and showed empathy and understanding throughout the process. Thank you so very much for your services and support through both our father's and mother's services. Using Webb in Preston was so much more personalized and was the best decision we made. There's still time to send flowers to Julie Hawkes Beckstead's service. He was well-known for his beautiful yard and garden which he spent numerous hours perfecting. If anyone ever needed anything fixed, Mel was one of the best handymen around and could pretty much fix anything!
